Painter’s tape is a useful piece of kit. It can be used for many different jobs, however, it’s especially useful for masking a surface to paint. Here’s how to use it for just that.
- Tear off a strip of tape around two feet long, then carefully place one end of the tape at the corner of the area you want to paint. Firmly seal it against the wall or other surfaces, then begin to carefully seal the rest of the tape along the edge of the painting area.
- When the area has been painted remove the tape while the paint is still wet by slowly pulling it away from the painted area. This will create a crisp line against the unpainted area beneath the tape.
- If some of the wet paint drips down over the taped area, wipe it away quickly with a damp cloth.
- The tape can be tightly stuck down using a spoon or a fingernail.
- If painters tape is left on until the paint dries it may peel the surface when removing it.
