If you are one of those people skilled in handy jobs, you probably have an enviable collection of tools around the house. Perhaps you keep a few in every room so that they are within reach anytime you need to change a light bulb or fix a leaking kitchen sink. If you have kids, however, the most responsible thing to do is to have a safe place where you can keep your tools away from curious little hands.
The best place to keep tools is in a tool shed separate from the house. It should have a padlock to keep inquisitive children away. If you do not have a tool shed, keep your handyman toys in a cabinet high enough to make it inaccessible to kids. Keep it padlocked too for your peace of mind.
Finally, it is also advisable to talk to your kids about the possible dangers of playing with your tools. Share specific examples if you can. By following these simple measures, you can rest assured that your kids will be safe from tool-related accidents at home.
